Remove Conditions on Residence I-751

If you obtained permanent residence based on marriage, but you only obtained a residence card for two years, you will have to start another procedure to remove the condition and get your permanent residence. This applies to the spouse and stepchildren who obtained conditional residency.

This process is executed through the I-751 application and could last up to one year. The application is submitted with documents to immigration before the two-year card expires. If the two years pass, the bearer will lose residence and must start the process again.
